Pepe Leche

Pepe Leche is an original pasodoble for concert band, written in memory of Jean-Claude Lèche, a trumpeter and passionate lover of the pasodoble repertoire.

The work gives a prominent role to the trumpet, an emblematic instrument of the genre, whose energy, color and distinctive character are central to the musical writing. The score also features carefully developed counterpoint, allowing the different sections of the concert band to interact and create a constantly evolving musical dialogue.

Throughout its different episodes, Pepe Leche alternates between gentle, warm and charming passages, evoking Jean-Claude’s engaging personality, and more tense and dramatic moments, reflecting the emotion of a life that came to an end too soon.

Both lively and expressive, Pepe Leche is a deeply personal musical tribute to a trumpeter who was passionate about the pasodoble tradition. The work combines the characteristic vitality of the genre with a more intimate and commemorative dimension.

The work was premiered in February 2026 by the Philharmonistes des pays du Vaucluse, bringing this musical tribute to Jean-Claude Lèche to life for the first time.
