Ode à Elio

Ode à Elio is a short original work for brass quintet, combining brilliant sonorities with an expressive and lyrical character.

The piece is built around a lyrical theme initially introduced by the trombone, before being developed and shared through the ensemble. The interplay between the brilliance of the brass and the melodic writing gives the work its distinctive character.

The work was composed to celebrate the birth of a friend’s first son. As a special personal touch, the father, himself a musician, performed the piece on trumpet.

Concise and accessible, Ode à Elio is well suited to brass quintet concerts and recitals, offering performers an opportunity to explore the different colors and expressive possibilities of the ensemble.
