Men walked on the moon!

Winner of 3rd Prize at the 2019 Harmonie d’Eybens-Poisat Composition Competition, Men Walked on the Moon is an original work for concert band (Grade 3.5–4), lasting approximately 6 minutes. The work is inspired by one of humanity’s greatest adventures: the conquest of the Moon.

Rather than literally illustrating historical events, the score follows the major stages of this extraordinary space adventure. From the fascination inspired by our natural satellite and the preparations for departure, through the rocket launch and lunar landing to the astronauts’ triumphant return, the music takes the listener on a journey filled with wonder, tension and exhilaration.

The writing features rich and colorful orchestration, alternating mysterious atmospheres, passages of intense rhythmic energy and more heroic episodes. Accessible to a Grade 4 concert band, Men Walked on the Moon is well suited to concerts, festivals and band competitions, offering musicians and audiences alike an evocative and energetic musical adventure.
