Jour blanc

Jour blanc is a work for concert band inspired by a winter walk through a small village north of Lyon, France.

The music creates a calm, gentle and contemplative atmosphere, as if suspended in the silence of a snow-covered landscape. It invites listeners to observe a sleeping natural world where every sound seems to take on a particular importance.

In the central section, the main theme is entrusted to the flute and surrounded by a light and transparent orchestration. The music evokes the delicate movement of a small stream flowing through the winter landscape. The different colors of the concert band gradually enrich this image without disturbing the peaceful character of the piece.

In the final section, the music gradually opens towards a new light. Like a ray of sunshine warming the frozen landscape, the sounds become brighter and create a feeling of peace, warmth and hope.
