Amor y paz

Amor y Paz is an original Spanish pasodoble for concert band, rooted in the tradition of the Spanish repertoire while offering a personal and expressive musical language.

The work alternates between rhythmic energy, a strong character and lyrical passages, giving the ensemble a varied palette of musical situations. Particular attention is given to counterpoint, allowing melodic lines to answer one another, overlap and gradually develop the musical discourse.

The second section stands out for its elegant atmosphere and melodic character. An expressive line unfolds gently before gradually being enriched by the different voices of the ensemble, creating a broader and more lyrical moment at the heart of the work.

Finalist at the 2023 Xàtiva International Pasodoble Competition, Amor y Paz is well suited to concert programs, festivals, competitions and wind band gatherings.

The work combines expressive melodic writing, an elegant and lyrical central section, carefully developed counterpoint and dialogue between sections, and the rhythmic energy and distinctive character of the concert pasodoble. The contrasts between its different sections allow the ensemble to explore a wide range of musical colors and characters.

Amor y Paz is intended for concert bands, wind ensembles, concert ensembles and advanced school bands looking to expand their repertoire with a Spanish pasodoble for concert band that combines energy, melody and expressive writing.

The work received its world premiere in Xàtiva, Spain. Its French premiere was subsequently given in Corbas, France, conducted by the composer with the Musique de l’Artillerie.
