Manzaneta

Manzaneta is an original Spanish pasodoble for concert band, written in the authentic tradition of the pasodoble de concierto. The work combines the energy and lively character of the genre with flowing melodic writing and a bright, elegant orchestration.

Winner of First Prize at the 2nd International “El Olmo” Pasodoble Composition Competition in Spain in 2022, Manzaneta is a natural choice for concerts, festivals, competitions and educational projects.

The orchestration places particular emphasis on the woodwind section, whose colors and virtuosity play an important role in shaping the character of the piece. The piccolo is given a prominent role, adding brilliance and agility to the musical texture.

Manzaneta features memorable and expressive melodies, the characteristic rhythmic energy of the traditional Spanish pasodoble, and a colorful yet transparent orchestration that allows the woodwinds to shine. The work builds towards a powerful and exhilarating final section, bringing the piece to an energetic conclusion.
