Children of the wind

Children of the Wind is a work for concert band composed to mark the end of the spring 2020 lockdown.

After months of restrictions and isolation, the work expresses the joy of rediscovering freedom, going outside again and reconnecting with the simple pleasures of life and nature. The music seeks to capture that unique feeling of stepping back into the world after a long period of confinement.

A short, bright and sparkling fanfare announces the end of the lockdown before giving way to an Allegro full of momentum and joy. The music unfolds with energy and lightness, evoking the exhilaration of regained freedom and inviting performers and audiences to rediscover the world around them.

The work concludes with the return of the opening fanfare, now placed in an atmosphere of hope and better days ahead. Children of the Wind is an uplifting concert band work celebrating freedom, movement, nature and the simple happiness of being able to live and share together again.
