Take that trip, Tick

An invitation to travel through groove, energy and orchestral power.

Take that trip, Tick brings together the world of the concert band and contemporary music in an original musical experience. The work combines alto saxophone, electric guitar, keyboard, bass guitar and drums with concert band, creating a colorful musical journey through different styles and sound worlds.

After a short introduction led by the contemporary music group, the piece launches into a funk section where groove and interaction between the instruments immediately establish the energy of the journey. The music then moves into a more expressive blues section, allowing the individual colors and personalities of the soloists to emerge. Finally, the music builds towards a powerful rock finale, bringing the full impact of the concert band together with the energy of the rhythm section.

Lasting approximately 9 minutes 15 seconds, Take that trip, Tick is written for ensembles of Grade 3.5. The work offers musicians an experience close to the live stage, combining the precision of concert band writing with the freedom and expressive character of contemporary popular music.

Some passages may be improvised by the contemporary music group, allowing each ensemble to develop its own artistic identity. For groups preferring a fully notated version, these sections may also be performed according to a fixed written part.

Never performed to date, the work is currently awaiting its world premiere. Take that trip, Tick is an invitation to ensembles looking to explore a new sonic territory between the tradition of the concert band and the energy of contemporary music.
